Bobby

**** (4 stars)

Bobby (2006)
Genre: Drama
120 minutes - Not Rated
Director: Emilio Estevez
Starring: William H. Macy, Lindsay Lohan, Elijah Wood, Laurence Fishburne, Demi Moore, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Hunt, Sharon Stone, Heather Graham, Shia LaBeouf, Brian Geraghty, Ashton Kutcher, Nick Cannon, Harry Belaftonte, Joshua Jackson, Emilio Estevez, Freddy Rodriguez, Martin Sheen, and more.

Brief Plot: The story is based around the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy at the Ambassador hotel. Weaved into the story are the lives of 22 people whose lives are changed forever.

Best Audience: Bobby is a must for anyone who is interested in history in this time period. It is dramatized and half fiction, but the core of the film is shown as correctly as possible with a sprinkling of real footage from that night at the hotel. Some brief instances of strong language including the f-word, and recreational drug use.

My Review: I thought Bobby was a spectacular piece of work. I am a sucker for stories with 'truth' weaved into them, and I am also fascinated by the Kennedy assassinations. The star-studded cast overall was solid, though some performances stick out much more than others. When you have that much talent it is easy to get a lot of lousy performances but Bobby avoids this pitfall. I really liked how they mixed real footage at the end with fictionalized footage. The film is good throughout, but not amazing until you reach the end which is one of the most powerful endings to a movie that I can think of having seen. It's worth watching just for the ending.
