**** 1/2 (4 and 1/2 stars)Good Night and Good Luck (2005)
Genre: Documentary/Drama
93 minutes - PG rating
Director: George Clooney
Starring: David Straithairn, George Clooney, Jeff Daniels, Patricia Clarkson, Robert Downey Jr. , and Ray Wise
Brief Plot: Good Night and Good Luck follows the quest of CBS news journalist Edward R. Murrow and his producer Fred Friendly as they attempt to expose the fear tactics of Senator Joseph McCarthy during the Red Scare.
Best Audience: A must for docudrama lovers. The movie shines as Murrow and his associates make difficult moral choices that positively portrays integrity, truth, and honesty. Suitable for younger audiences, due to little objectionable content.
My Review: Good Night and Good Luck was a stunning piece of filmmaking. Clooney really is just as talented behind the camera as he is in front of it. The cast was top-notch especially Strathairn, who was incredibly on point as Edward Murrow. A reasonable run-time helped the flow of the movie, and I was really impressed by the choice to have the movie run in black and white. Additionally, I enjoyed the original footage that the film used, giving it a more credible feel. An inspiring, well produced film. Two thumbs up.
